Fall Re~Focus
Fall Re-Focus
Enjoyable cool nights are here, and fall colors are beginning to emerge, even through the drought-stricken trees. Having so little rain in our area has had a devastating affect on our woods, yet how fortunate we are compared to the tens of thousands families who have lost their homes, jobs and medical assistance.
Now, more than ever, we must re-read the words of the first Newsletter. “SIMPLICITY - In every conceivable way.”
The stress of economical news, daily war updates and the political campaign hitting us whenever we open our computers, read the newspapers or turn on the T.V. makes it difficult to remain calm and not panic. One way to achieve more serenity and to keep your focus is to keep “de-cluttering” … your environment… your food intake… your mental state.
We’re all aware that many in the food industry are changing their ads to encourage us to buy their “junk food” because it’s cheaper. Don’t fall for that, please. Just today I was chatting with a restaurant owner who is amazed at the increase of sales of hot dogs with chili apparently because those are cheaper! Be more mindful of what you buy for your family’s meats knowing if you save pennies by buying cheap food now, you’ll pay more in medical bills in the long run.
And, please, please use the math regarding your extra fuel costs in gasoline! How many of you are willing to take a great loss by selling your larger car so you can invest in a smaller car that uses less fuel? Sit down and check the numbers before you dash out to try to “Save $$$”. Michelle Singletary, author of The Color of Money, compiled the numbers very logically in a recent article for the Boston Globe. www.boston.com/business/personalfinance/articles/2008/05/25/before_trading_in_your_gas_guzzler_do_the_math_and_make_sure_youre_saving/ What I’m suggesting is that you try to stay calm in the midst of a most tumultuous time.
Focus on how you can assist others by your donations of extras in your environment. Be it clothes, furniture in your basement, curtains you have kept in boxes in the attic, and even your time can be of great benefit to others. Volunteer if you have any extra hours.
Turn off your TV or computer then sit down and pray or meditate on what your focus should be to de-clutter.
I know I’m repeating words I stated in the first letter, but I’m concerned that too many of you are becoming consumed with fear, which causes us to be immobile.
Re-read letter #1!!
As soon as you read this, stay seated with your eyes closed and CONTEMPLATE.
My helpful hint today is to add Hydration from Synergy Formulas Inc. to your daily routine. An inexpensive way to keep your body hydrated during the fall season (or anytime). Follow the Links at the left of this page.
