Spring Cleaning
You see that title and immediately think of closets, drawers, Correct?
Well, that’s only one small facet of “Spring Cleaning”.
How many of you woke up this morning already weary just imagining all the things you have to do in the day ahead?
Each day brings unexpected challenges, and all of us are aware of our basic tasks, but in only a few moments daily, we can live a more focused, less stressful, life.
SIMPLICITY! In every conceivable way.
My clients and friends have been hearing me speak a lot lately of “de-cluttering”. As a LMT (licensed massage therapist/Body Worker), Aromatherapist, Artist, etc. I pride myself on having a neat home, studio and therapy room.
Recently it’s been extremely important that “things” in my surroundings could benefit others. If not, they are simply unnecessary in my life.
An example: one of my personal favorite charities is Safe Homes-Rape Crisis Coalition (www.shrcc.org), a haven for Domestic Violence victims. Every year they hold an auction, in addition to a gigantic “Yard Sale”. What a perfect recipient for closet extras and “Treasures” that no longer delight your senses, or bring you pleasure. Of course, you probably have your own favorite charities.
Did you realize that only 20% of your clothes are used 80% of the time? Too True!
Try the following. Walk into a room, sit down and look… really look…at your decorations, books, wall art, “things”. How much of it no longer resonates, or brings you pleasure? How much was given to you by well-meaning friends years and years ago? You haven’t wanted to hurt any feelings, so you’ve displayed things in order to please these friends. Beneficial?
Naturally, we ALL have memorabilia that we think we would never part with, so put them on a shelf for a while until you can make a decision about them. All the rest, give to a worthy cause, and think of the joy you feel, knowing the $$$’s made from those donations can help feed a child, or help someone in need.
Taking 15 minutes a day to clean out a cupboard, shelf, drawer, or corner of a closet, is all you need to begin the “de-cluttering” process.
Amazing what a FULL day of this could accomplish.
Donate, donate, donate, and trash, trash, trash. I guarantee that several months later, you won’t even remember most of what you disposed of. O.K.! So you have started down the path of de-cluttering your material possessions!
How about de-cluttering your mind, your activities, your “busy-ness”, in order to be a more tranquil, at-one-with the Universe type person. Among VERY strong possible side benefits could be having a more comfortable body, weight loss, the creation of a support group… Loving Yourself.
Now clearly, there can be Health issues that can contribute to fatigue, and physical or emotional stress and I’ll begin addressing those in future issues of CONTEMPLATION. I encourage you to check back. Be certain to also look on this site under Essential Oil Blends and check out our product named “Recovery”, an inexpensive way to experience a calmer, smoother feeling. Roll on a drop or 2 on your wrist, and inhale the effective aromatherapy. Our clients put one bottle bedside, and one in their car.
I’m going to use this space in each issue of CONTEMPLATION to speak of daughter Joni’s products, including botanical and complex homeopathic remedies. Click on SynergyFormulas on the menu to the left, for a wealth of information and products designed to cleanse various areas of the body in a gentle fashion.
In closing, I received this quote a few days ago, “Everything you own adds weight to your life”…Hmmmm something to think about?
On the path,
Yvon
